DAPA GROUP

digital photography at its best

Glasgow District Photographic Union Exhibition, 2009

The GDPU has a history spanning half a century and has been organising an annual exhibition for the past 39 years. This year’s exhibition was their first under patronage of the British Photographic Exhibition (BPE).

As with all BPE exhibitions the competition is tough, see states below.

The job of selecting the images that made up this exhibition, around 15% of the total number submitted, were chosen by: Jane Black ARPS Hon PAGB , Des Clinton FRPS AFIAP and Les Ayres ARPS MPAGB APAGB AFIAP.

DAPA group, as always, put forth a very strong entry, which this time included around 20 award winning images from previous BPE exhibitions. Sadly, on this occasion some of those images failed to hit the mark, some by as many a 2 points, Duh!

The only image to receive an award (HM) for DAPA in this exhibition was:

Savage Landscape

A Savage Landscape by John Powell BPE3

Nonetheless, several DAPA Group members did to manage to gain acceptances, they were: Angela Adams (4), Cherry Larcombe (3), Joe Brennan (3), John Powell (2), Belinda Buxton (1), Gary Newman (1) and Robert Powell (1)

Golden Spurs International Electronic Imaging Exhibition, 2009

Golden Spurs International Electronic Imaging Exhibition, 2009
I think I might have a go on the Lottery this weekend, before my luck runs out!
Whilst preparing the previous post I received my results from the Golden Spurs organiser, Etienne Vandenweghe. FPSA EFIAP informing me that not only did I receive 3 acceptances, but one of them was an HM for, Ooh! That Was Tough. Two HM’s in one day – I don’t bloody believe it!

It was Cherry and I that flew the flag for DAPA, but unfortunately the exhibition organisers, somehow, managed to lose her entry, but quite miraculously they managed to hang on to her entry fee! Mmmmm

However, Cherry has been promised a free entry next year!! But what’s to say they don’t lose it again?
My advice is, get a re-fund now!

On a more positive note, Cherry only needs acceptances in 2 more International salons to qualify for her AFIAP distinction. I’m sure you will all join me in wishing her the very best of luck!
